Key Developmental & Readiness Signs
Independence: Your child shows interest in doing things "by myself," such as dressing, putting on shoes, and cleaning up toys.
Potty Training: They fully potty-trained. Accidents happen! But can potty independently.
Social & Emotional Skills: Your child wants to play with others, handles transitions with less difficulty, and can manage emotions with adult support.
Communication: They can clearly communicate basic needs and feelings to teachers.
Focus & Stamina: Your child can focus on a task for a short time and has enough physical/mental energy for a structured day.
Separation: They can comfortably separate from parents for short periods.
If a child struggles to follow simple directions (like put on your shoes) or cannot be understood by others, it might be beneficial to wait.
🎒What to Pack for School Checklist
Weather-Appropriate Clothing: Dress in layers! Since kids spend one hour outside at Cathedral Park Preschool every day, make sure they have a waterproof jacket and closed-toe shoes.
A Full Change of Clothes and Indoor Shoes: Accidents and messy play happen. Include socks and underwear in a labeled gallon-sized bag. Indoor shoes are required and can be left at school during the year.
No Snack - We provide it! We offer the kids a snack (seasonal fruit and crackers) at 10:45am daily before outside time.
Refillable Water Bottle: Labeled with your child's name to keep them hydrated throughout the day.
Comfort Item (If Needed): If your child is still transitioning, a small "lovey" or photo can help with drop-off.
Sunscreen/Hat: Apply sunscreen before arrival during the warmer months.
