Teacher Cheryl

Welcome to Cathedral Park Cooperative Preschool. To chose a cooperative preschool means to me that you care and want to be a part of your child's first learning experience.

Together, we will create an environment in the classroom that is trusting, safe, secure, and—most of all—fun. With this, we can set goals for a "sharing" environment: learning to do our best and feeling special about ourselves. We will grow emotionally and socially. We will help the children to learn to set limits, follow rules, and work together. We will provide opportunities for decision-making, which is a good way to build self-confidence. I believe that children learn by what they see and hear. They learn by touching, hearing, smelling, and seeing. Repetition at a young age is so important, as well as the social interaction.

I have been a teacher for many years at Cathedral Park Cooperative Preschool. For four years before that, the preschool saw me as a parent and a board member. My teaching began at Gateway Day Nursery where I taught two-, three-, and four-year-olds. As my own family grew, so did my activities. From teaching nursery school to being a co-leader of a Girl Scout Troop (ten years of Girl Scouts) and then eight years with my girls in Job's Daughters (a Masonic organization), I also have my own office cleaning service. Between my family and work, I have gained a lot of experience as a parent participating in activities. I look forward to meeting each of you and your children.

Sincerely,

Cheryl Collette
